Answer: Anyone interested in BioSonics Scientific Echosounders can and should download Visual Acquisition. Using Visual Acquisition for data collection requires a BioSonics DT-X Echosounder System. However, Visual Acquisition can be used by anyone to playback data files to explore the many new features. To view sample data files, click on the blue PLAYBACK button.

2. What is Visual Acquisition used for?
Answer: Visual Acquisition is used to collect hydroacoustic data on fish and marine life, submerged aquatic vegetation, and the seabed. Scientists, resource managers and environmental consultants analyze this data to assess biological behavior, abundance and distribution and to characterize the underwater environment.

3. Is Visual Acquisition 6.0 really free?
Answer: Yes. Visual Acquisition 6.0 Software is a free upgrade for existing BioSonics clients and is always included with the purchase of a BioSonics echosounder. If you haven't purchased a BioSonics echosounder, you can download the software and try it out in playback mode for free.

4. What are the computer requirements for downloading Visual Acquisition?
Answer: Windows Platform; Requires .NET Framework 2.0 or greater (our Visual Acquisition Installer will guide you through the .NET download process if you need it).

5.Will Visual Acquisition 6.0 work with the new Windows 7 operating system?
Answer: Yes. Visual Acquisition 6.0 works with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
